Qualifying for a VA Home Loan

Qualifying for a VA Home Loan | Real Estate Articles Worth Reading | Scoop.it
Qualifying for a VA Home Loan, courtesy of your Robins AFB military relocation specialist, Anita Clark with Coldwell Banker SSK in Warner Robins GA.
Bill Gassett's insight:

If you are a veteran and know you will be buying a home in the near future I would highly recommend looking into a VA loan. There are advantages to a VA loan including the fact that you can do 100 percent financing! Yes you heard that correctly. A VA loan is one of the few loan products left where a borrower does not need much cash to purchase a home.

As Anita rightfully points out in her article qualifying for a VA Home Loan may have some additional limited restrictions to those veterans who are saddled with not so good credit scores. With the VA loan these credit issues are easier to overcome than with a conventional loan.  For example, as long as you have not defaulted on a loan in the previous 12 months, you should be considered eligible.

So who is eligible for a VA home loan? Current members of the reserve services can get a VA loan as long as they have met the minimum requirement of six years of military service.  Surviving spouses of deceased veterans who died in the line of duty or as a result of an injury received in line of duty are also typically eligible for a VA loan, as long as they have not remarried.
