The 2012 Community Manager Report [INFOGRAPHIC]

The 2012 Community Manager Report [INFOGRAPHIC] | Community Managers | Scoop.it
Every 4th Monday of January social media professionals gather around their warm, cozy monitors to toast Starbucks and sing viral video carols — all to celebrate Community Manager Appreciation Day.
Ally Greer's insight:

The folks over at SocialFresh put together this awesome infographic about community managers just in time to celebrate Community Manager Appreciation Day in a few weeks.

Check out the full infographic here, but I'll share a few tidbits that I found most interesting:

-Did you know that the majority of community managers are women? Girl Power!

-Additionally, 2 out of every 3 community managers works for a brand rather than an agency. Personally, I love working for a brand because I can fully dedicate myself to the company, our team, and our culture.

-Lastly, over 60% of community managers spend over 30 hours per week working on their community. Now, that's dedication!

How I Became A Community Manager Through My Dog

How I Became A Community Manager Through My Dog | Community Managers | Scoop.it
Becoming a community manager for Rebecca Braglio didn't start with being a lawyer, it actually all started with her dog, Dash.
Ally Greer's insight:

Here's a great story about how Rebecca Braglio followed her passion and found a job as a community manager. At first, she didn't even really know what she was getting into, but she's learning along the way and building a community around something she loves: her dog.

I always say that passion is one of the most important parts of being a community manager, beacuse if you can't stand behind the brand or product that you're representing, it will be much more difficult to build a community around it. Rebecca's story is an awesome example of how following your passion can lead to things working out in the end.
